Model-Based Design Approach to Improve Performance Characteristics of Hydrostatic Bearing Using Multivariable Optimization

Abstract: Research in the field of tribo-mechatronics has been gaining popularity in recent decades. The objective of the current research is to improve static/dynamics characteristics of hydrostatic bearings. Hydrostatic bearings always work in harsh environmental conditions that effect their performance, and which may even result in their failure. The current research proposes a mathematical model-based system for hydrostatic bearings that helps to improve its static/dynamic characteristics under varying conditions of… Show more

“…Under active control by the fuzzy method, hydrostatic bearings simultaneously achieved higher stiffness, response, stability, and controllability than traditional hydrostatic bearings. To improve their control strategy, the authors combined it with feedforward control to suppress pending external disturbances and feedback control to optimize the bearing performance [148]. The control parameters were optimized using a multi-variable particle swarm optimization algorithm.…”

“…Rehman WU numerically studied the lubrication performance of hydrostatic bearing systems under different viscosities, oil film gaps, external loads, and spindle speeds [3]. Du JL et al calculated and compared the static performance characteristics of hydrostatic bearings under four lubricating fluids, and discussed the effects of fluid viscosity and density on bearing lubrication performance [4,5].…”

“…Researchers have investigated several methods to improve the performance of bearings from bearing structure, fluid media and active control (Sawano et al, 2015;Manser et al, 2020aManser et al, , 2020bRehman et al, 2021). Surface micro-textured technology is considered to be an effective method to improve the lubrication performance of friction surfaces (Yang et al, 2020;Zhang and Bijay, 2018).…”
