F-box genes play an important role in the growth and development of plants, but there are few studies on its role in a plant’s response to abiotic stresses. In order to further study the functions of F-box genes in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum, Sl), a total of 139 F-box genes were identified in the whole genome of tomato using bioinformatics methods, and the basic information, transcript structure, conserved motif, cis-elements, chromosomal location, gene evolution, phylogenetic relationship, expression patterns and the expression under cold stress, drought stress, jasmonic acid (JA) treatment and salicylic acid (SA) treatment were analyzed. The results showed that SlFBX genes were distributed on 12 chromosomes of tomato and were prone to TD (tandem duplication) at the ends of chromosomes. WGD (whole genome duplication), TD, PD (proximal duplication) and TRD (transposed duplication) modes seem play an important role in the expansion and evolution of tomato SlFBX genes. The most recent divergence occurred 1.3042 million years ago, between SlFBX89 and SlFBX103. The cis-elements in SlFBX genes’ promoter regions were mainly responded to phytohormone and abiotic stress. Expression analysis based on transcriptome data and qRT-PCR (Real-time quantitative PCR) analysis of SlFBX genes showed that most SlFBX genes were differentially expressed under abiotic stress. SlFBX24 was significantly up-regulated at 12 h under cold stress. This study reported the SlFBX gene family of tomato for the first time, providing a theoretical basis for the detailed study of SlFBX genes in the future, especially the function of SlFBX genes under abiotic stress.

The increasing growth of the bivalve‐culture industry necessitates a scientific assessment of the carrying capacity (CC) of this aquaculture system, in order to ensure sustainability. Here, using a marine plankton ecological model and the food balance, bivalve CCs were estimated for aquaculture zones in Jiaozhou Bay (JZB), an important aquaculture center in China. The results indicated that CCs mainly depended on bivalve filtration rates, which were in turn regulated by temperature. The CCs of Manila clams, razor clams, and scallops were lowest in August–September, while the CCs of oysters and mussels were lowest in October. For all taxa, CCs were higher in areas with higher primary production. Further evaluation indicated that present cultures were saturated, with high mortality rates. To improve culture quality and efficiency, the seeding density of the Manila clam, the most widely farmed species in the JZB, should be reduced to ~700 individuals (ind.)/m2. We also recommend reducing the seeding densities of razor clams, oysters, and mussels to 345, 60, and 165 ind./m2, and reducing scallop seeding density to 280 ind./cage. Our methods and results provide a basis for further assessments of stocking capacities and the promotion of sustainable, healthy aquaculture in other bays.

Three-dimensional Reverse Modeling and Hydraulic Analysis of the Intake Structure of Pumping Station on Sediment-laden Rivers

For many pumping stations that draw water from sediment-laden rivers, the flow patterns in their intake structure are disordered due to sediment deposition, which seriously threatens the safe operation of projects. In order to accurately construct the complex and refined three-dimensional (3D) geometric model of the intake structure, and further explore the hydraulic characteristics of the water-sediment two-phase flow inside, this paper proposes a reverse modeling method and carries out numerical simulation. A typical forward intake structure in the arid region of Northwest China is selected as the research object. According to the point cloud data of the intake structure obtained by the 3D laser scanner, the curved surface models are rebuilt and imported into ICEM-CFD for improvement, thereby obtaining the 3D computational domain model of the actual intake structure; after lossless docking with FLUENT, the hydraulic characteristics are analyzed by applying the Realizable k-ε turbulence model coupled with the Mixture multiphase flow model considering interphase slip; finally, the reliability of the simulation is verified by in-situ flow measurements. Results demonstrate that the method can precisely reflect the actual geometric boundary and siltation of intake structure, and the numerical model can accurately identify the two-phase flow; the siltation improves the local flow field structure of the forebay to some extent, but cause the loss of the overall hydraulic performance of the intake structure. This study can provide a scientific reference for the geometric model construction and hydraulic analysis of intake structures with complex boundary and sediment deposition.
