Abstract:Shear and density stratification strongly affect the flow mechanism of the different atmospheric and ocean flows. In this paper, we investigate the stability characteristics of plane Couette–Poiseuille (CP) flow with stable density stratification in the vertical direction. A modal stability analysis is carried out to examine the exponentially growing instability of stratified plane CP flow under different controlling parameters. The domain of the flow is periodic in streamwise and vertical directions. The stab… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
