Mobile Sink as Checkpoints for Fault Detection Towards Fault Tolerance in Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract: A WSN consists of a large number of limited computation and storage capability wireless sensor nodes, which communicate wirelessly. These sensor nodes typical communicate in short range and collaborate to accomplish the network function. To increase the range of sensing and with the advent of MEMS, mobile sensors and sinks is the technology the world is moving to. This paper presents a network of mobile sensors and a sink. A mobile sink is selected as check-point to have the recoverability of the network. A Fu… Show more

“…A control system with wireless multi-hop routing is a networked control system based on wireless transmission (Pajic, Sundaram, Pappas, & Mangharam, 2011). Unlike wireless sensor networks (Parwekar, Rodda, & Kaur, 2018), control commands transmitted from controllers to actuators and detection information transmitted from sensors to controllers need to be relayed through multiple routing nodes before being received by the target nodes. For the control system based on wireless multihop routing, usually there is a large distance between the actual plant and the controller, or between the sensors and the controller (Gupta, Dana, Hespanha, Murray, & Hassibi, 2009).…”
