Objective: The study is being conducted to find out mode of tele-communication and software used by children with hearing impairment. Methodology: This cross-sectional study was done at special education centers and schools in Lahore and Sheikhupura. Data was collected from children with hearing impairment by using a questionnaire of 11 items about the modes of tele-communication and software used by children with hearing impairment. Sample size was 362 which was calculated by using online sample size calculator. The population includes male and female children with mild, moderate, severe and profound hearing impairment studying in special education schools of Lahore and Sheikhupura. All these children use hearing aid and have congenital bilateral hearing loss. Results: This study shows that almost 80% population of children with hearing impairment know about computer and mobile. They also have awareness about the use of computer, Facebook, e-mail etc. In addition, 40 to 50% children with hearing impairment use Skype, Facebook and e-mail as a communication tool. Conclusion: The conclusion from this study is that most of the children use computer and mobile on daily basis in schools and homes for communication. Mild to moderate hearing loss children benefit from these devices between the ages of 10 to 20 y.

A serious problem facing the Community for researchers in the field of sign language is the absence of a large parallel corpus for signs language. The ASLG-PC12 project proposes a rule-based approach for building big parallel corpus between English written texts and American Sign Language Gloss. We present a novel algorithm which transforms an English part-of-speech sentence to ASL gloss. This project was started in the beginning of 2010, a part of the project WebSign, and it offers today a corpus containing more than one hundred million pairs of sentences between English and ASL gloss. It is available online for free in order to develop and design new algorithms and theories for American Sign Language processing, for example statistical machine translation and any related fields. In this paper, we present tasks for generating ASL sentences from the corpus Gutenberg Project that contains only English written texts.

<span lang="EN-GB">Communication is very important for people including adults and babies to exchange their thoughts, views and information. They can express their thoughts verbally and non-verbally. Baby sign language is non-verbal type that consists of a set of standard and organised form of hand gestures motion to represent different word. This language allows the children who have hearing impairment problem to communicate with others. In addition, it can also be taught to normal babies to convey their need before they have the ability to speak. It is very challenging for adults to understand babies and children with hearing impaired problem. Thus, a real-time hand gesture recognition system has been developed for adult to interactively learn the baby sign language. Firstly, the face region was detected in order to use the skin colour model of the face to detect the hand. After that, the hand shape was determined by finding the palm centre and convex hull. Convexity defects which representing gaps between the fingers were used to determine the number of fingertips whereas the movement of the hand was detected based on motion analysis. By setting the background colour to blue and adding extra light in front of the laptop, the system successfully obtained an accuracy higher than 85% rate for sign “mom”, “eat” and “milk” when tested on Malay, Chinese and Indian races in Malaysia.</span>
