“…In the cross-cultural setting, Bourdieu himself utilized the experiences of an Algerian migrant family in France to illustrate habitus–field mismatch, as the first-generation migrants’ life and practices in Algeria could no longer be maintained in Paris, and the migrants did not acquire the resources to claim a desirable position in the new field (Bourdieu, 1999). Moreover, Dai and his colleagues (2020) applied Bourdieu’s concepts to examine Chinese students’ experiences in a transnational education program. They reported students’ encounters with the field–habitus dissonance and argued this could produce transformation of the habitus, which might lead to better adjustments to the logics of the new field.…”
