“…Of these, 36 studies were screened for eligibility, with 22 articles being excluded. An additional three meeting abstracts [17,21,22] were identified from searching DDW, UEGW, and APDW, which gave a total of 17 studies that were included in the final analysis.…”

“…The sensitivity of M-CE in diagnosing dSMC ranged from 63 % to 94 % [16,20], while the specificity ranged from 86 % to 100 % [15,21]. On pooled analysis, the sensitivity and specificity of M-CE in diagnosing invasion depth in early CRCs were 84 % (95 %CI 76 % -89 %; I 2 = 76.9 %) and 97 % (95 %CI 94 % -99 %; I 2 = 90.2 %), respectively (▶ Fig.…”

“…They compared FICE-ME findings with those from NBI-ME by analyzing 692 colorectal lesions (55 non-neoplastic, 524 adenomas, 90 intramucosal cancers, 23 invasive cancers) treated by endoscopic resection or surgery, which were initially detected by conventional colonoscopy and then observed by NBI-or FICE-ME. NBI and FICE findings were classified according to presence of a pit-like structure (white zone) and according to appearance of a vascular area due to the collapsing of microvessels surrounding the pit network; histology served as the gold standard, and sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy were 50 %, 100 %, and 98.3 %, respectively, in the diagnosis of invasive cancer [57]. Finally, FICE-ME was also used in an interesting multicenter trial involving nine colonoscopy experts from eight endoscopic units located in Brazil, Japan, and Venezuela, which attempted to validate observations correlating capillary vessel patterns of colorectal lesions with hyperplastic polyps, adenomas, and carcinomas [58].…”

“…Die Histologie diente als Goldstandard. Sensitivität, Spezifität und Genauigkeit betrugen 50 %, 100 % und 98,3 % bei der Diagnostik eines invasiven Karzinoms[57]. FICE-ME wurde auch in einer interessanten Multizenterstudie eingesetzt, die 9 Koloskopexperten aus 8 Endoskopieeinheiten in Brasilien, in Japan und Venezuela einbezog.…”
