Z-Mediated Supersymmetry Breaking

Abstract: We consider a class of models in which supersymmetry breaking is communicated dominantly via a U1' gauge interaction, which also helps solve the mu problem. Such models can emerge naturally in top-down constructions and are a version of split supersymmetry. The spectrum contains heavy sfermions, Higgsinos, exotics, and Z' approximately 10-100 TeV, light gauginos approximately 100-1000 GeV, a light Higgs boson approximately 140 GeV, and a light singlino. A specific set of U1' charges and exotics is analyzed, an… Show more

“…A Wino NLSP can occur naturally in certain GUT models with F-terms which are nonsinglet under the GUT group [14]. Note that a Wino NLSP may be possible also in the case of U(1) mediated supersymmetry breaking [15].…”

“…This, therefore, suggests a simple method of coupling our kernel to a messenger sector. In addition, the presence of multiple U (1) groups makes Z ′ mediation [37] an intriguing alternative possibility, and perhaps the most natural way of mediating supersymmetry-breaking to the fields of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). A scenario of this sort, in which some of the MSSM fields would be charged under one or more hidden-sector U (1) groups, could lead to a rich Z ′ phenomenology potentially visible at the LHC [33].…”

“…Here we give a brief review of the Z-prime mediation of SUSY breaking [19,20] by discussing the pattern of the soft SUSY breaking parameters, the masses of the Z ′ -ino and of the MSSM squarks and gauginos, which are the most robust predictions of this scenario. At the SUSY breaking scale, Λ S , SUSY breaking in the hidden sector is assumed to generate a SUSY breaking mass for the fermionic component of the U(1) B−L vector superfield.…”

“…It has recently been noticed that if there exist such an extra gaugino, it can mediate a SUSY breaking so as to induce the gaugino masses for each SM gauge group at the two loop level, while the scalar soft masses are generated at the one loop level [19,20] 4 . The Z-prime mediated SUSY breaking is basically to use an extra U(1) ′ vector multiplet as a field which communicates a SUSY breaking source with the visible sector.…”
