ψ-epistemic theories: The role of symmetry

Abstract: Formalizing an old desire of Einstein, "ψ-epistemic theories" try to reproduce the predictions of quantum mechanics, while viewing quantum states as ordinary probability distributions over underlying objects called "ontic states."
