BaBiO3and the effect of potassium substitution using photoemission

Abstract: Carbons. -The rhodium-catalyzed title reaction is highly selective and leads to the exclusive formation of the expected linear γ,δ-unsaturated aldehydes. The stereointegrity of the quaternary carbon center of the cyclopropanes remains unaffected. The geometry of the C=C double bond in the products depends on the substituents at the alkylidene of the starting cyclopropanes. -(SIMAAN, S.; MAREK*, I.; J. Am.

“…3(b) was approximately 0.24 eV, which was consistent with literature reports. 26 It was also close to the activation energy for conduction calculated through ac impedance spectroscopy ($ 0.25 eV, Fig. 4(c)), which may suggest that similar mechanisms control both the dielectric relaxation and conduction mechanism.…”

“…Jeon et al and Kulkarni et al reported the presence of multiple Bi 4f lines which they attributed to multiple valence states of bismuth. 25,26 Several other groups have reported narrow bismuth core level spectra. [27][28][29][30] Some attributed it to the presence of just one bismuth state in the compound and some suggested that the level of disproportionation was too small to be detected by photoemission.…”

“…For instance, different interpretations have been proposed 9,11,14,15 for the Bi 4 f and O 1s core-level data in terms of the number of chemically shifted components corresponding to inequivalent sites and/or oxidation states. In the reported valenceband data there is a growing consensus that superconducting samples give a clear Fermi edge 9,11,13,15,16 which is lacking for the semiconducting compositions, 9,13,15,16 but in two studies 12,14 no clear Fermi edge was found for superconducting samples. All studies except one 16 were performed with polycrystalline samples and scraping was the most frequently used method to clean the surface.…”

“…In addition, Bi corelevel photoemission spectra have shown that scraping can result in breaking of the Bi-O bonds. 12 Concerning the reactivity of the surfaces in ultrahigh vacuum ͑UHV͒ it has been concluded that the absorption of residual gas molecules is larger for potassium doped samples. 11 The present work is a photoemission and XAS study of Ba 1Ϫx K x BiO 3 single crystals which were cleaved in situ.…”
