O12resonant structure evaluated by the two-proton emission process

Abstract: The characteristics of the 12 O resonant ground state are investigated through the analysis of the experimental data for the two-proton decay process. The sequential and simultaneous two-proton emission decay modes have been considered in a statistical calculation of the decay energy distribution. The resonant structures of 11 N have been employed as intermediate states for the sequential mode, having their parameters determined by considering the structure of single particle resonance in quantum scattering pr… Show more

“…width with the convolution of a Breit-Wigner shape for the natural width and a Gaussian shape for the resolution, we get a very small width-but with a large uncertainty. Leite et al [6] recently fitted the 12 O decay data of Kryger et al and obtained a width of 0.66 MeV, but it appears from their text and figure that they assumed the total width was all natural width-i.e. no experimental resolution width.…”
