Abstract

The strong decays of KA, K*, and <f> mesons are calculated using (a) Ward identities derived from equaltime commutation relations of chiral SU(3)(S)SU(S), (b) the notion of a partially conserved strangenesschanging axial-vector current, (c) dominance of spectral functions by gauge mesons, and (d) maximum smoothness of proper vertex functions. This method was originally introduced by Weinberg and Schnitzer for SU{2)0SU{2) and applied to Ai and p decays. We describe the co-<j> system by the current-mixing model. The resonance contribution to the iT^-decay Dalitz plot is obtained. K*-^KW;KA-^PK; KA-^O)K, in terms of one free parameter (B of Schnitzer and Weinberg*) for each process. During the calculation, we set Fr=FK, and we repeatedly use Weinberg's first spectral-function sum rule^ for SU(3) and SU(3)XSU(3)^ and the KSRF relation.i'^ For the co-0 mixing, we use the current-mixing modeF which Sakurai and Oakes^ have shown to be the only one 5 S.
