ρmeson, Bethe-Salpeter equation, and the far infrared

Abstract: The Bethe-Salpeter equation in QCD connects the gauge-dependent gluon and quark degrees of freedom with the gauge-invariant properties of mesons. We study the ρ meson mass and decay constant for various versions of the gauge-dependent input functions discussed in the literature, which start to differ generically below the hadronic scale, and show qualitative different infrared behavior. We find that, once the gauge-dependent quark-gluon vertex is permitted to vary as well, the ρ mass and decay constant is repr… Show more

“…A.1 in [305] for a discussion and [243,[354][355][356][357][358] for corresponding techniques). In any case, many observables are insensitive to the deep-infrared behaviour of the interaction due to the freeze-out of the dynamical quark mass and for those such a change has almost no effect [201]. This is also true for the replacement πη 7 x 2 → 2πη 5 x which was suggested in Ref.…”

“…We note here only that, fortunately, it turns out that the associated 'Gribov copies' [198] are only relevant for momenta below ∼ 100 MeV [199,200], so their impact upon the calculation of observable quantities is in practice very small compared to other sources of errors, see e.g. [201].…”

“…The emphasis is of course on fermions in the fundamental representation, as these are necessary for an investigation of QCD [13,14,206,229,341,[353][354][355][356][357][358][359][360] 69 . Less often the properties of adjoint and fundamental scalars have been investigated [25,170,176,208,209,363,364], though they are much more amendable to lattice calculations [9].…”

“…In particular, hadron properties are not much affected by the deep infrared of the interaction; rather, they seem to be sensitive to the support and strength of the interaction at the scales of a few hundred MeV [29,42]. As known from a long series of BSE studies, the RL truncation is successful for equal-mass mesons, for instance lightqq mesons, such as the pion, kaon and ρ [32], but also forQQ charmonia and bottonium [43][44][45][46] where subtle cancellations between contributions from the quark-gluon and antiquark-gluon vertices are in order.…”
