Mixture Between Fire and Mist Jets Characteristics for Flame Extinguish

Abstract: The extinguish process using the water mist jet is one of the most efficient system for hydrocarbon flame accidentally developed. The environmentally friendly of the system is an important challenge. Both free jets characteristics are analysed in aim to have a quick suppression of the flame. The paper is focused on the geometrical shape of the cone realised by every jet (flame and water mist). On this basis the relative position of the jets is decisive in aim to obtain the desired effect. Experimental measurem… Show more

“…Based on the experiments presented in paper [2] we are considering the fire feed by methane gas and the water mist as agent extinguish at the pressure of the domestic water network, at different temperatures between 20 ℃ to 40 ℃. The geometry of the numerical simulation model is considered a 3D rectangular encloser with a square floor 1 × 1 m and a height of 3 m. The material of walls was considered an inert material.…”

“…Based on a previous experimental approach [2], in this paper is developed a numerical simulation study regarding the influence of water temperature in the process of fire suppression. It was used the Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) having PyroSim as graphical user interface.…”
