Mixed Critical Earliest Deadline First

Abstract: Using the advances of the modern microelectronics technology, the safety-critical systems, such as avionics, can reduce their costs by integrating multiple tasks on one device. This makes such systems essentially mixed-critical, as this brings together different tasks whose error probability requirements may differ by an order of magnitude 10 6 . In the context of mixed-critical scheduling theory, we studied the problem of scheduling a finite set of jobs. In this work we propose an algorithm which is proved to… Show more

“…Algorithms satisfying this restriction are called MC-scheduling (for "mixedcriticality scheduling") algorithms. Most of the algorithms such as OCBP [10]- [12] and MCEDF [13], [14] that have been developed for scheduling mixed-criticality instances, as well as algorithms such as EDF-VD [15], [16], AMC [17], and MC-Fluid [18], [19] that have been proposed for scheduling systems of mixed-criticality recurrent tasks, fall into this category.…”

“…Multi-Criticality Scheduling of Real-Time Tasks: Since [22] first proposed a formal model for mixed-criticality systems, researchers have studied scheduling sequential tasks on both single processor [23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30] and multiprocessor machines [31,32]. In Section II, we discussed the algorithms most relevant to our work that use virtual deadlines [14,15].…”
