Mitochondrial DNA organisation of the mtDNA type 2b ofAspergillus tubingensiscompared to theAspergillus nigermtDNA type 1a

Abstract: A physical and functional map of Aspergillus tubingensis mtDNA type 2b was constructed and compared to Aspergillus niger typeI a mtDNA. The gene content and order, as well as the patterns of restriction sites, were similar. Two unidentified ORFs and several repeat elements were found in the region between the ndhl and ndh4 genes on both mtDNAs. The sizes of the A. niger and A. tubingensis mtDNAs were 31.23 and 33.06 kb. respectively, the difference was principally attributed to the altered intron content of th… Show more

“…The ndh5 gene contains at least two EcoRI sites in the mtDNA of types 2a, 2b and 2e, while type 2c contains only the first, and types 2d and 2f only the second site. The region between the ndh1 and ndh4 genes is special, since it contains two ORFs presumed to code for endonucleases and a tandem-repeat sequence region, as similarly demonstrated in the case of the mtDNA of type 2b (Juhá sz et al 2004). The presence of EcoRI and BglII sites varies in this particular region, too (nucleotides 4603-4959 of complete genome of mtDNA type 2b; Accession No.…”

“…We compared the mitochondrial genome of types 2a, 2c, 2d, 2e and 2f of A. tubingensis with the well-described mtDNA of type 2b (Juhá sz et al 2004) by RFLP analysis (Fig. 1) and by constructing restriction maps of the mtDNAs (Fig.…”
