Abstract: Mitochondria are essential metabolic organelles as produce cellular energy by oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), produce reactive oxygen species (ROS) as a by-product, and regulate functions such as apoptosis via the mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mtPTP).
