“…Control of house dust mite is usually done by three different approaches: the first is a physical method such as exceptional cleaning standards (Adilah et al, 1997;Nishioka et al, 1998), the second is reducing the humidity levels (Bischoff et al, 1998) and the third reducing allergens by effective acaricides (Mitchell et al, 1985;Green et al, 1989). The latter option must only be employed after careful consideration.…”

“…Used clothes hold skin mites in such great numbers that special methods are continually developed to eliminate the mites from fabric worn by or in contact with people, since some individuals have become allergic to them (Miller and Miller 1996;Bischoff et al 1998;Arlian et al 2003;Cieslak et al 2007). Due to their omnipresence, mites are becoming important trace elements in forensic investigations.…”

“…Washing clothing and bedding using hot or warm water alone or with detergents and bleach also kills mites and removes mites and allergens (Andersen and Roesen 1989, McDonald and Tovey 1992, Vyszenski-Moher et al 2002. Adding acaricides to laundry wash water is also effective (Bischoff et al 1996(Bischoff et al , 1998Tovey and McDonald 1997). Use of encasements on mattresses and pillows as barriers is recommended to prevent exposure to mites and mite allergens in beds while sleeping (Arlian and PlattsMills 2001).…”
