Missing Data Imputation in Internet of Things Gateways

Abstract: In an Internet of Things (IoT) environment, sensors collect and send data to application servers through IoT gateways. However, these data may be missing values due to networking problems or sensor malfunction, which reduces applications’ reliability. This work proposes a mechanism to predict and impute missing data in IoT gateways to achieve greater autonomy at the network edge. These gateways typically have limited computing resources. Therefore, the missing data imputation methods must be simple and provide… Show more

“…Compared to the carbonation-assisted flotation presented here, these pre-flotation strategies obtained similar Ni recoveries (70–90 wt%) and a lower Ni grade (∼0.55 wt%) very similar to carbonation under relatively milder conditions (70 °C and 1 MPa). 49,50 The energy cost of relatively milder carbonation would be lower compared to severe carbonation; moreover, a successful carbonation-assisted flotation would offset the energy costs through increased Ni production and CO 2 offset tax savings, which would provide a competitive advantage to carbonation in comparison with pre-flotation strategies. However, a comparison of the energy costs of carbonation with other pre-flotation strategies requires further techno-economic assessment.…”
