The inappropriate use of statistical method and technique cause time and cost losts and it can be misleading to other scientific researhes. So in this study the main statistical error sources in medical research are discussed and aimed to be informative for researchers. The most common statistical error sources are determined examining the previous medical researches and taking errors into account occured in researches during statistical consulting. Inappropriate use of statistics can be found in every stage of a medical research related to data analysis; design of the experiment, data collection and pre-processing, analysis method and implementation, and interpretation. We listed several error sources that researchers easily commit if they are lack of solid statistical background. The mistakes in the studies mostly occur because of the researchers' lack of statistical knowledge and since they don't take statistical consulting. Unbiased, consistent, and efficient parameter estimates are made in statistics science. This can be provided using statistics from the planning until the end of the study. So it is neccessary to consult statisticians at each stage of the studies.

No número anterior a este periódico, os autores apresentaram matéria comemorativa sobre a descoberta dos Sons de Korotkoff, em 1905. Relataram os determinantes históricos que resgatam o importante papel da Escola de Enfermagem da Universidade de São Paulo-EEUSP, no desenvolvimento da mais antiga linha de pesquisa de pressão arterial na enfermagem brasileira: "Influência da Largura do Manguito na Medida da Pressão Arterial". Neste artigo é apresentada a produção científica decorrente dos estudos realizados pelos doutores formados na EEUSP, enfatizando-se a trajetória de cada pesquisador em seus respectivos núcleos e laboratórios, com o objetivo de oferecer alguns indicadores que permitem avaliar, qualitativa-quantitativamente, o impacto das pesquisas realizadas e a caracterização do conhecimento na área.

Randomization is central to rigorous scientific trials. An effective but underutilized approach is urn randomization. To test the ability of urn randomization versus simple randomization to produce balanced groups with small sample sizes, we conducted simulated randomizations: 10 times under sample size scenarios of 20, 40, 60 (group sizes of 10, 20, and 30, respectively), for 30 trials in total. For groups of 20-30, urn surpassed simple randomization in the equal distribution of confounding variables between groups, leading to effects of these variables that were both smaller on average and more consistently close to zero over multiple trials. The urn method is easy to implement and has the advantages of unpredictability of assignment and decreased susceptibility to investigator bias.
