Older drivers are most at risk of serious and fatal injury in crashes per vehicle mile driven compared with other age groups owing to a combination of cognitive decline and increased fragility. A smartphone coaching application targeting risky driving behaviors (e.g., speeding, hard braking), was iteratively designed to ensure older driver acceptance and usability. A 12-week field operational test examined driving performance of 28 drivers aged 65 to 78 from Kansas and Minnesota using the RoadCoach app and an ABA reversal design. Participants’ baseline driving behaviors were recorded for 3 weeks, followed by a 6-week experimental phase of real-time app coaching, and concluded with a 3-week baseline phase with no feedback provided. Compared with the pretreatment phase, there was a significant reduction in the rates of hard braking and stop sign violations associated with system use. A protection effect was observed through the posttreatment phase. Excessive speeding violations were not significantly different across the phases; however, there were modest declines in the proportion of miles traveled 15 mph above the speed limit in the posttreatment phase compared with the prior two phases. No significant effect was found for excessive acceleration and aggressive turning measures posttreatment, despite an observed increase in both rates during the treatment phase compared with pretreatment. Overall, the results indicate that the RoachCoach app may be an effective intervention to reduce several risky driving behaviors while in use and may result in prolonged behavior changes (i.e., reduced hard braking and stop sign violations) after treatment cessation.

Pandemi Covid-19 menyebabkan manusia tidak dapat bersosialisasi secara langsung, hal ini memberikan dampak yang buruk bagi lansia. Kesepian pada lansia dapat mengganggu Kesehatan mental dan fisik sehingga dapat berakibat gugup atau depresi. Hal ini dapat disiasati dengan komunikasi menggunakan smartphone. Akan tetapi pada umumnya lansia mengalami penurunan kognisi, sehingga mendapatkan kesulitan dalam menggunakan smartphone. Beberapa penelitian sudah merumuskan rancangan antarmuka yang mudah digunakan oleh lansia. Penelitian ini membuat sebuah aplikasi buku kontak yang memudahkan lansia untuk melakukan komunikasi dengan anggota keluarga atau kerabatnya. Hasil antarmuka diuji menggunakan single factor anova, task success, time on task, dan efficiency. Dari hasil penelitian, desain antarmuka yang cocok untuk aplikasi buku kontak berbasis ponsel untuk lansia adalah desain dengan jenis linear list.

This study was conducted to find out the attitudes and skills of Tamil teachers towards the use of Information and Communication Technology in Teaching and Facilitation. To achieve the objectives of the study, the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) was used. This study is a quantitative study involving a survey. The present modern world meets a lot of challenges in adopting technology in education. Teachers find the modernized use of information and computer technology (ICT), as a difficult task. Many works have been carried out in the field of ICT-related teaching and learning throughout the globe. These researches talk about the use of computer-based teaching aids, motivation to use technology among teachers, stages of using ICT, training for teachers, facilities available, and school infrastructure. When compared with other studies, this study deals with the attitudes and skills of Tamil language teachers in using ICT. The findings of the study also show that the cooperation of all parties is a factor behind the success of implementing ICT in Tamil teaching and facilitation. And also, the usability factor (PU) is also a motivator for teachers to show a positive attitude towards the use of ICT.
