MiRNAs in endometrioid endometrial cancer metastatic loci derived from positive lymph nodes

Abstract: IntroductionMicroRNAs (miRNAs) take part in tumorigenesis and show aberrant expression levels in cancerous tissues. We aimed to perform miRNA profiling of endometrioid endometrial cancer (EEC) metastatic loci derived from lymph nodes. Identification of aberrant miRNAs in positive lymph nodes could contribute to establishing new diagnostic markers and therapeutic targets.Material and methodsDuring the screening phase of the study, we performed profiling of 754 human miRNAs in endometrioid endometrial cancer tis… Show more

“…Over the last 5 years, up to 754 miRNAs [17] have been identified as potential biomarkers in EC, some of which are correlated with lymph node involvement, advanced FIGO stage, metastatic status, or histologic type [17,40,103,118,161,162]. Increasing our knowledge of the miRNA expression status or the methylation state of key miRNA loci may help to better stratify patients.…”

“…Overexpression of miR-501 can increase the activation of the AKT/mTOR pathway, leading to higher pelvic lymph node metastasis and reduced overall survival (106). Profiling the miRNA expression in EEC metastatic loci from lymph nodes could aid in identifying novel diagnostic markers and therapeutic targets (202). miR-204-5p is a tumor-suppressor miRNA associated with lymph node metastasis in EC, highlighting the importance of the lymph node status in determining adjuvant treatment (168).…”
