“…That miR‐206 is elevated in the TA but not the GA strengthens this finding's significance. Levels of miR‐206 depend on the relative proportion of fast‐ and slow‐fibre composition; elevation is associated with muscles predominantly composed of fast‐type fibres; decrease, with slow‐type fibres; and no change with mixed fibre‐type composition . Since myomiRs are expressed in both cardiac and skeletal muscle, but miR‐206 is skeletal muscle‐specific, so its serum levels reflect the balance between myofibre expression and the magnitude of extrusion to circulation.…”

“…The nerve injury usually complicates with a few symptoms, such as diabetic neuropathy, degenerative disc disease, SMA, trauma, alcoholic neuropathy, viral infection, and the cancers (Hsieh et al, 2011;Tamura et al, 2015). Therefore, when the symptoms of muscle denervation combining with several SMA-associated factors, DSMA is induced and causes the irreversible dysfunction of muscles, which can't be rescued with any treatment clinically (Huang et al, 2016;Li et al, 2016). Although there have been applied several therapeutic methods for treating DSMA nowadays (Huang et al, 2016;Romeo-Guitart et al, 2017), the therapeutic effects are also unsatisfactory.…”

“…It has been demonstrated that myomiRs play a key role in the proliferation, differentiation, and diseases of skeletal muscle [ 11 , 12 ]. A number of miRNAs are differentially expressed and are highly involved in the pathophysiological process of denervated muscles [ 13 ]. Moreover, it has been reported that miRNAs have been found in a number of body fluids including serum [ 14 ].…”
