Mirage mediation from the landscape

Abstract: Rather general considerations from the string theory landscape suggest a statistical preference within the multiverse for soft SUSY breaking terms as large as possible subject to a pocket universe value for the weak scale not greater than a factor of 2-5 from our measured value. Within the gravity/moduli-mediated SUSY breaking framework, the Higgs mass is pulled to m h 125 GeV while first/second generation scalars are pulled to tens of TeV scale and gauginos and third generation scalars remain at the few TeV r… Show more

“…For the soft term distribution f SU SY (m sof t ), positive power law [13][14][15][16] or log [17] distributions pull soft terms to large values and seem favored by LHC SUSY search results [17][18][19][20]. In contrast, negative power law distributions, as expected in dynamical SUSY breaking where all SUSY breaking scales would be equally favored [21][22][23], or large-volume scenario (LVS) compactifications [16]would lead to sparticle masses below LHC limits and light Higgs boson masses much lighter than the measured value m h ∼ 125 GeV [24].…”

“…The above Eq. (3) has been used to generate statistical distributions for Higgs and sparticle masses as expected from the string theory landscape for various assumed values of n ¼ 0-4, for assumed gravity-mediation model NUHM3 [16], and also for generalized mirage mediation [22]. For values n ≥ 1, there is a statistical pull on m h to a peak at m h ≃ 125 GeV in agreement with the measured value of the Higgs boson mass.…”

“…Large number of sequestered hidden sectors have also been considered recently in [19][20][21], in models with multiple (pseudo)goldstini. Other works which have addressed supersymmetric soft spectrum phenomenology from the landscape following [22] include [23][24][25][26].…”
