MiR393 and miR390 synergistically regulate lateral root growth in rice under different conditions

Abstract: BackgroundPlants have evolved excellent ability of flexibly regulating the growth of organs to adapt to changing environment, for example, the modulation of lateral root development in response to environmental stresses. Despite of fundamental discovery that some microRNAs are involved in this process, the molecular mechanisms of how these microRNAs work together are still largely unknown.ResultsHere we show that miR390 induced by auxin promotes lateral root growth in rice. However, this promotion can be suppr… Show more

“…Similarly, miR156, miR6030, miR400, miR393, miR172 and miR171 were predicted to target eight genes (Supplementary Table 5). These miRNAs were reported previously in several studies to regulate gene expression in plants during biotic and abiotic stress [57][58][59][60].…”

“…Salt stress, UV light stress, pathogen (Magnaporthe grisea) stress, drought stress, and abscisic acid (ABA) treatment, were performed as described previously [28]. For gibberellin (GA) treatment, the whole 2-week-old seedlings were incubated into N6 liquid solution containing 50 μM GA 3 and 0.02% Tween 20.…”
