miR-320a functions as a suppressor for gliomas by targeting SND1 and β-catenin, and predicts the prognosis of patients

Abstract: miR-320a downexpression contributes to tumorigenesis in several human cancers. However, the relevance of miR-320a to prognosis, proliferation and invasion in gliomas remains unclear. In this study, we demonstrated that miR-320a expression was decreased in human glioma tissues and cell lines. Moreover, miR-320a expression was inversely correlated with glioma grades and Ki-67 index, but positively correlated with patients’ survival. Contrarily, SND1 and β-catenin expressions were positively correlated with gliom… Show more

“…On the other hand, LAMP‐1 is shown to be directly regulated by miRNA‐320a in prostate cancer. Interestingly, the expression of the same miRNA was decreased in both human glioma tissues and cell lines . Furthermore, silencing of LAMP‐1 inhibited proliferation, migration and invasion of cancer cells .…”

“…Then, 5 μm continuous sections were prepared for IHC of SRSF1 and Ki-67. Histopathological diagnoses were made independently by 2 neuropathologists according to the 2016 WHO classification of central nervous system tumors (39). Sanger sequencing was adopted to verify the gene type of IDH1/2 (39).…”

“…Dysregulation of miRNAs has been reported in almost all types of malignancy, including glioma (11), gastric cancer (12), lung cancer (13), ovarian cancer (14) and bladder cancer (15). miRNAs are involved in tumourigenesis and tumour development through participation in the regulation of diverse biological processes, including cell proliferation, cycle, apoptosis, angiogenesis, migration, invasion, metastasis and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (16)(17)(18). Therefore, further investigation into the biological role of GBM-associated miRNAs may aid the identification of novel therapeutic approaches for patients with this disease.…”
