“…Earlier work in mice and rabbits also indicates that minocycline is protective after ischemic injury secondary to temporary interruption of cord blood supply. 10,11 In the setting of a limited, predictable decrease in spinal cord perfusion, a single prophylactic dose of minocycline seems logical because temporary astrocytosis inhibition and other anti-inflammatory effects may prevent secondary neuronal injury after the initial ischemic insult. Are Drenger's findings therefore limited to early-onset SCI secondary to temporary interruptions of spinal cord perfusion?…”
