This paper presents an analysis of mining area deformations in the rock mass consisting of high depth and strength strata deposited in the cover. The analysis of land surveying results enabled the identification of the parameters required to predict subsidence, which differed from the typical parameters for the Upper Silesian Coal Basin. The parameters of the Budryk–Knothe theory were determined based on the results of geodetic measurements. The calculations of the final state of deformations for planned mining were made using the average and characteristics for the study area parameter values. Based on experience, it is known that the range of subsidence trough depends on the mechanical properties of the rock mass. This study shows that the presence of high-strength rocks also reduces the value of the coefficient of roof control. Subsequently, calculations were made by a computer simulation of longwall mining to determine the course of indices of deformation over time. The calculations were conducted twice: on the assumption that the impact was immediate and on the assumption of the parameter values typical for the basin, and formula expressing the course of subsidence over time with the parameter values based on the measurement results. The obtained distributions of deformation indicators were diametrically opposed to each other. The results of the calculations with the parameter values appropriate for the region indicate that it is possible to carry out a planned mining operation without creating a risk to objects on the surface.

Aiming at the difficulty in adapting the traditional English teaching evaluation model to the new situation of current education development, a research on college English teaching evaluation based on neural network is proposed. The thesis proposes that based on the neural network, from the perspective of teachers and students, while creating a positive and harmonious learning atmosphere, a college English teaching environment with interactive mechanism is established, and a teaching mode of English interactive mechanism is constructed in it. To obtain a better neural network model, to establish the performance evaluation index of college English teaching, to calculate the weight of the performance evaluation index of English teaching, and to realize the evaluation of college English teaching based on neural network, the experimental results show that the use of this method can significantly improve students’ English scores, and the method has high approximation accuracy.

Presently, the deformation extraction of buildings in mining areas using terrestrial laser scanner (TLS) point clouds is performed manually. Automatic deformation extraction holds great significance for building deformation monitoring in mining areas. Therefore, this study proposes an automatic extraction method for building deformation in mining areas using TLS point clouds. The corner points of doors and windows on the wall are considered as key points and the wall deformation in the mining area is extracted with minimal manual intervention. First, the input data were preprocessed, including 2D boundary point cloud acquisition and denoising (using a distance slope filter). Next, the key points were extracted via three steps: boundary line splitting, seed key point clustering, and key point judgment. Finally, the 3D coordinates of the key points and the relationship between the key points of the two phases were established to calculate the deformation value. The results confirmed negligible difference between the deformation value extracted using this method and the real value. Most of the errors were between −5 and 5 mm, and only a few exceeded ±5 mm; however, no error exceeded ±9 mm. The deformation value obtained using this method was almost identical to that obtained using the manual method, and the absolute error between them was below 8 mm. The performance verification of this method showed that the proposed distance slope filter removed the noise points more effectively compared to that of the traditional denoising filters, i.e., statistical and radius filters, establishing its suitability for the complex measurement environment of mining areas. During the automatic extraction of key point coordinates, the root mean square error (RMSE) values were below 2.0 mm; RMSE values during manual extraction were below 7.1 mm. The proposed method demonstrated greater stability than that of the manual extraction method.INDEX TERMS Deformation monitoring, mining damage assessment, point cloud, terrestrial laser scanner (TLS).
