Mining Proteomes Using Bioorthogonal Probes

Abstract: The definition of proteomes in cells and animals at particular stages facilitates an understanding of protein function. In this issue of Cell Chemical Biology, Elliott et al. (2016) report an elegant approach of bioorthogonal labeling and enrichment of proteomes from stochastic orthogonal recoding of translation. With this method, low abundance proteomes can be identified in a multicellular system.
