Abstract:We consider sets in R N which minimise, for fixed volume, the sum of the perimeter and a non-local term given by the double integral of a kernel g : R N \ {0} → R + . We establish some general existence and regularity results for minimisers. In the two-dimensional case we show that balls are the unique minimisers if the perimeter-dominated regime, for a wide class of functions g.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
