Minimal enhancer elements of the leghemoglobinlba andlbc3 gene promoters fromGlycine max L. have different properties

Abstract: The characteristics of the soybean leghemoglobin lba gene promoter were analyzed and important promoter elements from the lba and lbc3 promoters were compared using transgenic Lotus corniculatus plants. A 5' deletion analysis of the lba promoter delimited two cis-acting elements controlling expression: a distal positive element (-1254, -884) required for expression and a proximal element (-285, -60) essential for full-level activity. In contrast to the corresponding region of the lbc3 promoter, the lba proxima… Show more

“…mants can be tested, making this system applicable for promoter studies. Furthermore, an analogous transformation system of Lotus corniculatus [8] has been successfully used for promoter studies of the leghemoglobin genes of soybean (Ibc3) [22,27,29], the soybean N23 gene [14,15] and the soybean ENOD2 gene [17]. The V. hirsuta hairy roots were inoculated with Rhizobium leguminosarum bv.…”

“…Cis-regulatory promoter elements of nodulin genes have been identified in the ENOD2, Iba, Ibc3, and N23 genes from soybean, the Srglb3 gene from Sesbania rostrata, and the glutamine synthetase (gln-'~) gene from french bean [16,20,34,35,36,38,39,40].…”

“…The regulation of late nodulin gene expression was studied in detail by analyzing different leghemoglobin (Ib) gene promoters from soybean and Sesbania rostrata [6,34,38,42,44]. Together, is analysis resulted in the identification of cis-acting elements conserved amongst different lb gene promoters [6,39].…”
