Mineralogical, microstructural and porosimetry analysis in three different clayey soils

Abstract: Diffraction, scanning electron microscope and helium porosimetry techniques have been shown to be suitable for obtaining physical and mineralogical properties in soil samples. The X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy allows obtaining the elemental composition of the sample, while the X-ray diffraction technique permits obtaining a qualitative and quantitative composition of the soil minerals. On the other hand, scanning electron microscope shows the microstructure of the soil and the helium porosimetry measures the… Show more

“…Te glass powder is highly dominated by silicon dioxide (SiO 2 ), as shown in Table 4. When the soil particles are mixed with the glass powder particles, they reacted and mineral change occurred as studied by previous researchers [15,[36][37][38][39]. However, the plastic chips are mixed as a mechanical stabilizer; hence, its efect is only geomechanical.…”

“…Sridharan (2014) studied the clay mineralogy and physicochemical mechanisms that govern the behavior of fine soil [5]. Ruge, et al (2019) performed a mineralogical, microstructural and porosymmetric analysis in clay soils to determine the mineral composition that controls the potential swelling of clay soils [6].…”
