Mineral status of soil, sea water, and mangrove (Avicennia marina) forages in several coastal areas of West Sumatra

Abstract: Background and Aim: The availability of minerals in the soil affect the mineral content of mangrove leaves. This study aimed to determine the macro- and micromineral contents in the environment and mangrove leaves (Avicennia marina) as animal feed in the coastal areas of West Sumatra, Indonesia. Materials and Methods: In this study, soil, water, and mangrove leaves were extracted from the mangrove plant's environment. The mineral contents were determined using the atomic absorption spectrophotometer of Beijin… Show more

“…There is a breakdown of protein into ammonia which will be used as the main nitrogen resource for microbial synthesis in the livestock's rumen (Russell et al, 2009). The mangrove plant lived in the littoral area are considered to have the potential become forage source (Yanti et al, 2021a;Sari et al, 2021).…”

“…shows the highest number of individuals for the seedling was A. marina with a total of 756 idv/ha. A. marina can grow in extreme environments, where water and soil experience ups and downs carrying various types of minerals ([16]. At the sapling stage, the highest number of individuals was found in A. marina with a total of 53 idv/ha, and the lowest was B.…”
