Mineral-Solubilizing Soil Bacteria Permanently Green Rocky Slopes by Enhancing Soil Adhesion to the Surface of Rocky Slopes

Abstract: Rocky slopes are vulnerable to landslides and mudslides, which pose a major threat to human life and property. Research is being conducted to improve the adhesion between soil and minerals by mineral-solubilizing bacteria to manage slopes scientifically and develop novel methods for slope greening. From the soil of Nanjing Mufu Mountain’s weathered rock walls, we isolated various soil mineral-solubilizing soil bacteria. During the soil bacterial solubilization test, we discovered that some soil bacteria could … Show more

“…Jia et al further investigated the screened microorganisms and found that a variety of MSMs could promote root growth, increase root strength, increase the number of root nodules, and affect the number and species of inter-root microorganisms (Jia et al, 2021) on the nitrogen cycling with extremely significant effects (Li C. et al, 2020;Li et al, 2021a;Li et al, 2021b). In addition, we conducted a series of optimization studies on slope spraying substrates, including water retention agents (Wang L. et al, 2022), comprehensively analyzed and ranked the effects of different treatments, and preliminarily applied the MSM-based APG method (Wang L. et al, 2023). The results showed that APG was an effective and feasible slope greening method, with great application value and broad application prospects.…”

“…Four typical strains were selected for patent protection based on the test results. We found that these strains positively affected the release of mineral metal ions, plant and root growth, and photosynthesis of plants ( Wu et al., 2017a ; Wu et al., 2017b; Li et al., 2020 ; Jia et al., 2021 ; Wang et al., 2022 ). However, the comprehensive effects of these factors on soil, plants, and roots have not been considered yet, nor have they been integrated with revegetation construction techniques.…”
