Mineral composition, nutritional properties, total phenolics and flavonoids compounds of the atemoya fruit (Annona squamosa L. x Annona cherimola Mill.) and evaluation using multivariate analysis techniques

Abstract: The atemoya is a hybrid fruit obtained by crossing of cherimoya (Annona cherimola Mill.) with sweet sop (Annona squamosa L.). The information about chemical composition of atemoya is scarce. The mineral composition was evaluated employing Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP OES) and the centesimal composition and the physico-chemical parameters were assessed employing procedures described in the AOAC methods. The total phenolic compounds (TPC) and total flavonoids (TF) were determined… Show more

“…This result is superior to that found in atemoya fruits in the study by Santos et al 13 The high water content of fruits, combined with low lipids and a high percentage of sugars, are excellent food sources 14 . Fiber, ash, and protein content were slightly higher than those found in atemoya fruits in the studies by Santos et al 13 and Cruz et al 15 . These small variations are related to the distinct stages of fruit ripening of the studies, as well as the influence of climate and soil.…”

“…O Teor de Flavonoides Totais (TFC) foi determinado utilizando-se a metodologia que emprega cloreto de alumínio adaptada (dos Santos et al,2016). Do extrato etanólico de cada amostra, tomou-se alíquotas: 50 μL (polpa) e 10 μL (casca), separadamente, em triplicata, que foram transferidas para balões volumétricos de 5 mL.…”

“…Dther elements such as K, S, Zn, and Cu also develop an important role in the maintenance of good organism function. Multi-element determination through spectrometric techniques after acid digestion procedure has often been employed for mineral composition evaluation of several fruit and fruit based-product samples (Caidan et al, 2014;Pacheco et al, 2017;Potortí et al, 2018;Rodríguez-Solana et al, 2014;Santos et al, 2016). Onductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (OCP DES) is considered an efficient technique for multi-element determination due to the possibility of simultaneous analysis and low detection limits (LDD).…”
