Mineral composition and growth of babycorn under swine wastewater combined with chemical fertilization

Abstract: R ESU M OThe objective of this study was to evaluate the application of wastewater from swine manure (ARS) and chemical fertilization on foliar concentrations of macronutrients and micronutrients, and its relationship with the growth of babycorn. An experiment was conducted in completely randomized design with eight treatments and three replications in 4 x 2 factorial arrangement, which consisted of the application of four doses of swine wastewater (0, 40, 80 and 120 kg N ha ). The results indicated that the i… Show more

“…They were defined based on the nitrogen concentration obtained from SWW physical-chemical analysis. The application rates are also similar to that used in the study of Meneghetti et al (2012), who defined SWW application rates based on nitrogen concentration in baby corn crop (0, 115, 230 and 345 m 3 ha -1 ). Besides the standard rates of 0, 100, 200 and 300 m 3 ha -1 , a treatment was carried out with the equivalent in available N (nitrate + nitrite + ammonia).…”

“…Many of these studies describe positive Maggi et al, 2011;Kessler et al, 2013b;Kessler et al, 2014) and negative (Doblinski et al, 2010;Sampaio et al, 2010;Meneghetti et al, 2012;Smanhotto et al, 2013;Tessaro et al, 2013) influences of SFW reuse on soil and its biota, plants, leachate and on runoff. Therefore, the challenge in wastewater management is to develop adequate application protocols, in order to minimize the polluting power of the activity and potentiate its efficiency as a liquid fertilizer.…”
