Mineral and Phytochemical Profiles and Antioxidant Activity of Herbal Material from Two TemperateAstragalusSpecies

Abstract: Only a few species of the large Astragalus genus, widely used for medicinal purposes, have been thoroughly studied for phytochemical composition. The aim of our research was to investigate the rarely studied species A. glycyphyllos L. and A. cicer L. for the distribution of mineral elements and phytochemicals in whole plants at two growth stages and in morphological fractions. We also investigated the capacity of the plant extracts to scavenge 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals and to chelate ferrou… Show more

“…This fact may be explained by the different exposure of abiotic and biotic stress factors for each plant part and thus these parts could produce different levels of secondary metabolites. These findings were also supported by scientific evidence [49,50]. To sum up, our findings suggest that each part of C. szovitsii could be of interest for food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic areas.…”

“…Астрагал солодколистий (Astragalus glycyphyllos L.) АС) -лікарська рослина, яку здавна використовують у народній медицині. Значний вміст робініну та інших флавоноїдів, а також ресурсний потенціал виду становить інтерес дня науковців [2][3][4][5]. У деяких регіонах Європи АС застосовують як замінник чаю [6].…”
