MIMO handheld antenna design approach using characteristic mode concepts

Abstract: In summary, we proposed and demonstrated a C band TEDFL which employs a BFM and a TFBG to form the laser cavity. The BFM acts as a broadband reflector both for the lasing signal and pump source. At pumping power of 100 mW, stable laser output power of 21.35 dBm is obtained with the threshold pumping power as small as 4.7 mW. A SMSR of 57.9 dB and 16 nm tuning range are demonstrated. This BFM-based TEDFL with graceful features as mentioned may find vast applications in fiber optics communications and fiber sens… Show more

“…Particularly, the capability to operate at multiple frequency bands is highly preferable. Owing to the multiple wireless communication operations and the finite space for the radiator provided inside the compact handset, the concept of the chassis radiator, such as the ground plane, has been considered into radiation for enhancement of bandwidth and radiation efficiency . The theory of the characteristic mode has been utilized to analyze the orthogonal Eigen patterns and Eigen modes of the ground plane (the chasis) .…”

“…Owing to the multiple wireless communication operations and the finite space for the radiator provided inside the compact handset, the concept of the chassis radiator, such as the ground plane, has been considered into radiation for enhancement of bandwidth and radiation efficiency. [1][2][3][4] The theory of the characteristic mode has been utilized to analyze the orthogonal Eigen patterns and Eigen modes of the ground plane (the chasis). [4][5][6] First, the analysis of excitation modes of the rectangular ground-plane prototype is investigated.…”

“…Introduction: The usefulness of characteristic modes [1] in providing insight into antenna properties and design has recently been revived and described by several authors [2][3][4][5][6][7]. In the interests of brevity we use the notation of [1] and assume readers are familiar with its contents.…”
