“…Shot blasting (Ikeda et al, 1996) was used years ago, the surface topography is uncontrollable and property is reinforced mainly through physical operation, which limit the application of shot blasting in the roll texturing. Meanwhile, some new developments such as miniaturiza- (Simão et al, 1994;Elkoca, 2008), as another main roll texturing method, roughens the roll surface with random distributed craters and convexes, while the chrome-plating technology has been used, local coating would be pulled off during the rolling process and repeatability and wear property of the roll surface topography are lower than that of the laser texturing (Pawelski et al, 1994;Andersson et al, 2007).
