Microwave-Mediated Stabilization and Carbonization of Polyacrylonitrile/Super-P Composite: Carbon Anodes with High Nitrogen Content for Lithium Ion Batteries

Injun Park,
Yoonhak Lee,
Sooah Park
et al.

Abstract: Most synthetic carbonaceous anode materials for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) are fabricated through a two-step heat-treatment process involving stabilization and carbonization. In this study, the stabilization and carbonization processes were accomplished via microwave treatment in significantly reduced time to fabricate carbonaceous anode materials for LIBs. Polymeric precursors for carbon materials, such as polyacrylonitrile (PAN), cannot be heat treated via the microwave because of their weak microwave-abs… Show more

“…Thus, the N 1s spectra will be discussed in detail (Figure a), which can be categorized into four types: pyridinic groups (N-6, 398.0 ± 0.1 eV), pyrrolic groups (N-5, 399.6 ± 0.4 eV), graphitic nitrogen (N-Q, 400.6 ± 0.3 eV), and pyridine-N-oxide groups (N-X, 402.7 ± 0.3 eV) (Figure ). The detailed percentages of each component are summarized in Figure b and Table S3. Clearly, the pyridinic N and pyrrolic N species are predominant for NHPC-600, whereas graphitic N and pyridinic N are predominant in NHPC-700, NHPC-800, and NHPC-900.…”
