Microwave-assisted hydrothermal synthesis of graphene based Au–TiO2 photocatalysts for efficient visible-light hydrogen production

Abstract: Au–TiO2–graphene photocatalysts display high visible-light hydrogen production activity due to the load of Au nanoparticles and introduction of graphene.

“…1c). The adsorptionedesorption isotherms of NeTiO 2 /NG, NeTiO 2 /G and TiO 2 /G exhibit typical IV nitrogen adsorption branches with a H3 hysteresis loop at a relative pressure between 0.5 and 1.0, indicating the presence of a mesoporous structure (2e50 nm) [46,49]. The pore size (Fig.…”

Since the pioneering studies by Kamat and coworkers [235,236], semiconductor/graphene-based nanocomposites have attracted a lot of attention in different fields due to their good electron conductivity, large specific surface area and high adsorption [222,[237][238][239][240].…”

“…Furthermore, it was shown that Au{111}/TiO 2 exhibited the lowest apparent activation energy for hydrogen evolution. Wang et al prepared graphenebased Au/TiO 2 photocatalysts and investigated photocatalytic hydrogen generation under visible light irradiation [193]. They could show that graphene modified Au/TiO 2 had a 1.7-fold higher activity than the analogous Au/TiO 2 sample under [195].…”
