Microwave-Assisted Hydrothermal Synthesis and Annealing of DyF3Nanoparticles

Abstract: The series of DyF3nanosized samples was synthesized by the colloidal chemistry method. The microwave-assisted hydrothermal treatment was used for the first time for the modification of DyF3nanoparticles. Transmission electron microscopy images show that the DyF3nanoparticles have average particle size of about 16–18 nm and the size distribution becomes narrower during the microwave irradiation. The X-ray diffraction analysis shows the narrowing of the diffraction peaks versus microwave treatment time. The expe… Show more

“…Also it should be noted that during the last two decades, an immense progress has been done toward facile synthesis of LnF 3 nanoparticles (NPs) with different size and shape [25,26]. For these reasons, LaF 3 host matrix is considered as a very promising material for doping with rare-earth elements for broad range of applications.…”

“…In this study, we address the synthesis of uniform and well‐dispersed HoF 3 and DyF 3 NPs with different sizes and shapes to assess their suitability as high field MRI CAs. While the synthesis of HoF 3 NPs has not been reported up to now in the literature, the synthesis of DyF 3 NPs has been recently published, although the NPs are clearly irregular in shape and show a high degree of aggregation, which make them useless for bioapplications. This is, therefore, the first report in the literature about the synthesis of uniform, well‐dispersed HoF 3 and DyF 3 NPs.…”

“…The nanoparticles of LaF3 doped with 12 % of Ce3+ ions were synthesized via coprecipitation method [3][4][5] and subsequent modification of prepared nanoparticles using the microwave-assisted hydrothermal treatment was performed [6]. Four samples collected at different stages of fabrication were investigated.…”
