Microstructure, Mechanical Properties, and Corrosion Behavior of Boron Carbide Reinforced Aluminum Alloy (Al-Fe-Si-Zn-Cu) Matrix Composites Produced via Powder Metallurgy Route

Abstract: In this paper, Al-Fe-Si-Zn-Cu (AA8079) matrix composites with several weight percentages of B4C (0, 5, 10, and 15) were synthesized by powder metallurgy (PM). The essential amount of powders was milled to yield different compositions such as AA8079, AA8079-5 wt.%B4C, AA8079-10 wt.%B4C, and AA8079-15 wt.%B4C. The influence of powder metallurgy parameters on properties’ density, hardness, and compressive strength was examined. The green compacts were produced at three various pressures: 300 MPa, 400 MPa, and 500… Show more

“…The maximum contribution was observed as 4.585% by hang time, followed by percentage of reinforcement (2.42%) and pH value (0.15%). The p -values were obtained in the normal collection; this also informs that the chosen parameters are remarkable ones [ 41 , 42 , 43 , 44 , 45 , 46 , 47 , 48 , 49 ].…”

“…The appropriate ANN framework that was chosen in this analysis has 30 neurons in the hidden layer for the prediction of UTS as shown in Figure 24. A tangent sigmoid transfer feature operates in the hidden layer [54][55][56]. A linear transfer function and the 'Levenberg-Marquardt' learning algorithm are used in the output layer [57,58].…”

“…The shrinkage strain was at a higher rate during the initial days of drying and gradually increased at later stages. At the time of extending the percentage of WFS and CS, the drying shrinkage strain also extends to a higher level than normal concrete [ 11 , 12 , 13 , 14 , 15 , 16 , 17 ].…”
