In this work, the CO2 adsorption performance of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) impregnated with ionic liquids (ILs) was studied using quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) at the temperature of 298.15 K and pressures up to 5 bar. The hybrid composites consist of aluminum terephthalate metal–organic framework (AlTp) impregnated of 1-butyl-4-methyl pyridinium and 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium–based ionic liquids (ILs) with different anions, viz. tetrafluoroborate ([BF4]−), thiocyanate ([SCN]−), chloride ([Cl]−), and bromide ([Br]−). ILs-impregnated AlTp synthesized was characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), the thermogravimetry analysis (TGA) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. CO2 adsorption isotherms of the IL/AlTp composites and AlTp were measured to evaluate the ILs effect on the CO2 adsorption of the AlTp. Comparison of CO2 adsorption in ILs/AlTp with different anion ([Cl]−, [Br]−, [SCN]−, [BF4]−) reveals that CO2 adsorption in ILs/AlTp was increased in the order as: [BF4]− < [SCN]− < [Br]− < [Cl]−. The results show that [BMPyr][Cl]/AlTp the highest CO2 adsorption capacity, 2.6 times higher than that of AlTp at 5 bar and 298.15 K which helps to guide the logical design of new mixtures for gas separation applications. Also, adsorption/desorption test show that regeneration performance of [BMPyr][Cl]/AlTp is 96.53% after five consecutive cycles adsorption/desorption.

Austenitic Stainless Steel (SS316) is a commonly used material in marine and offshore locations. The components' surface in such environments degrades due to chloride and moisture exposure. Hence, adding a ceramic coating to the surface enhances its functionality. In the present work, Cr3C2 and 8YSZ powders are mixed in an equal ratio to deposit unique composite coated layers on the SS316 substrate by plasma spray coating method. The performance of the composite coating is also compared to that of uncoated, Cr3C2-coated, and 8YSZ-coated substrates. The surface morphology and cross-sectional microstructures of the coated SS316 substrate are examined using scanning electron microscope (SEM) images and The presence of chemical elements in the coatings is determined using Energy Dispersive X-ray Analysis (EDAX) with elemental mapping. Further, the corrosion resistance of the substrate is evaluated using potentiodynamic polarisation and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) methods. The results shows that the composite coating has a decreased porosity of 1.33 % area and a higher microhardness of 880.02HV compared to bare and other coated surfaces. The corrosion analysis reveals that the composite coating has a decreased corrosion current density (Icorr) of 3.233×10-6 mA/cm2 and an enhanced charge transfer resistance of 2396.23 ohms.cm2 due to strong passivation and restricted electrolyte penetration into the coating. Further, the electrochemical corrosion study reveals that the composite coating exhibits the lowest corrosion rate of 0.00004306 mm/year.

By the application of the three-point metal forming process, copious shapes can be formed. While doing the forming process, various unavoidable sheet metal defects will occur. This paper predominantly emphasizes springback and roughness defects and investigates the effects of these parameters with terpolymer Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) fiber tool punch. Low-cost tooling and quality part development benefit from fiber tool punch over traditional steel tool punch. The springback and surface roughness are analyzed in the AA6061 sheet using steel and fiber punch in three-point U-bending operations, which are carried out as per ASTM standards. For this purpose, steel and fiber punch with nose diameters of 4, 8, and 12 mm and sheet metals of thicknesses 1 and 2 mm are used. The 8%–10% reduction in springback is achieved in fiber punch than steel punch. Also, the fiber punch offers 10%–47%better surface roughness than the steel punch. As the diameter of the punch increases, the roughness value also increases irrespective of the punch material. The fiber – reinforced ABS punch presents an attractive opportunity to reduce the springback effect and improve the surface quality of the finished product.
