“…The four terranes Al Amar, Bir Umq, Nabitah Yanbu sutures are distinguished by ophiolite‐bearing suture zones (Stoesser & Camp, 1984), while Afif and Ar Rayn terranes in the east show continental affinities. But the other three terranes (Midyan, Asir and Hijaz) on the western side are ensimatic island arc terranes (El‐Fakharani et al, 2020). The contacts between these terranes formed the major deformational belts and suture zones which marked by the presence of ophiolites.…”

“…The Arabian Shield is divided into five geologically different terranes (Stoesser & Camp, 1984) by four ophiolite‐bearing suture zones (Figures 3 and 4) that include Al Amar, Bir Umq, Nabitah, and Yanbu sutures. Two island arc terranes with continental affinities in the east (Afif and ArRayn terranes), whereas the other three terranes (Midyan, Asir and Hijaz) on the western side are ensimatic island arc terranes (El‐Fakharani et al, 2020; Kassem, 2015a, 2015b). Abd‐Allah et al (2014) introduced the Fatima suture zone along the border between the Jiddah terrane and the Asir terrane (Figures 3 and 4).…”
