Microscopic description of the critical behavior of three-dimensional Ising-like systems in an external field

Abstract: We study the behavior of a three-dimensional Ising-like system in an external field near the critical point by using the non-Gaussian spin-density fluctuations, namely, the quartic measure density with the even and odd powers of the variable ͑the asymmetric 4 model͒. The basic idea of the analytic method for deriving complete expressions of the thermodynamic characteristics ͑including the scaling functions͒ is described. The proposed method allows us to perform the calculations on the microscopic level without… Show more

“…In additional to even powers of CV, the effective Hamiltonian has contained the odd part represented by the linear and cubic terms, which are related to the presence of the field. In contrast to the works [11,12], the present calculations are carried out without using power series in scaling variable. The size of the scaling region is a function of both the temperature and field variables.…”

“…At n > n p , due to changing the sign of the coefficient in the quadratic term in the exponent of relation (11), we can calculate the quantity I n+1 appearing in (6) on the basis of the Gaussian approximation. In the case of T > T c , the coefficient d np+1 increases gradually and, for the quantitative results, one should perform the additional step of integration [12]. Then the partition function (6) takes on the form…”

“…The generalization to the case of "ϕ 6 "-model etc. one may perform by means of the results [11,13]. Concerning the function ϕ(ν l ) for simplicity we will use the first odd cumulant approximation, for which (1.23) holds.…”
