Microscale decoupling of sediment oxygen consumption and microbial biomass in an oligotrophic lake

Abstract: 1. Sediments of aquatic ecosystems are hotspots for biological activity. Here, we address the question if, within surface sediments, oxygen consumption is linearly related to cell abundance.
