“…The earliest researchers believed that chicken seminal fluid lacks CD9 and CD44 bearing extracellular vesicles (Alvarez‐Rodriguez et al., 2020). The current accumulated studies indicate the presence of EVs with a classic bilayer membrane structure; particle size distributed 30–250nm and multiple marker proteins were identified (Chen et al., 2020); and the results were consistent with this study. Interestingly, the particle size range of EVs was consistent, but its peak distribution varied across studies, which may be caused by the different chicken breeds and exosome extraction methods used in the studies.…”

“…Previous studies have shown that dissociative miRNAs in semen participated in reproduction regulation ( Chen et al, 2016 ; Yang et al, 2023 ). SPEVs-coupled miRNAs are more advantageous because their double-layer membrane structure protects the cargos against enzymatic degradation or phagocytosis/immune rejection ( Chen et al, 2020 ). The 563 common miRNAs identified in this study were also enriched in metabolic pathways such as glycolysis and oxidative phosphorylation.…”

“…Nine EV-related miRNAs were found to be differentially expressed: 3 upregulated and 6 downregulated. Among these miRNAs, the tumor suppressor miR-138-5p was found to be downregulated as in many types of human cancer [ 66 ].…”
