MicroRNA-552 promotes tumor cell proliferation and migration by directly targeting DACH1 via the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway in colorectal cancer

Abstract: Abstract. The purpose of the present study was to analyze the crucial role of microRNAs (miRNAs/miRs) involved in the proliferation and migration of colorectal cancer (CRC) and to investigate their underlying mechanisms. The present study discusses the expression and function of miR-552 in CRC. The expression level of miR-552 in CRC cells and tissues was observed, and it was suggested that the high expression of miR-552 accelerated the proliferation and migration of CRC cells in vitro. Notably, a result of the… Show more

“…The promotive role of miR‐552 in CRC was confirmed recently by Wang et al. and Cao et al. This paper showed that an understanding of the expression and function of miR‐552 in HCC might help to understand the underlying molecular mechanisms.…”

“…A number of studies have supported the conclusion that miR‐552 is possibly involved in the molecular mechanism of another cancer within the human digestive system. Cao et al concluded that upregulation of miR‐552 promoted colorectal cancer (CRC) cell growth by targeting DACH1 . Wang et al.…”

“…miR-552-5p acts as an oncogene in certain types of cancer. For instance, miRNA-552 targets dachshund homolog 1 (DACH1) to enhance cell proliferation and migration in colorectal cancer (15). Wang et al (16) revealed that miR-552 promoted colorectal cancer metastasis.…”

“…For example, the down-regulation of miR-193a-3p was associated with worse prognosis of patients with CRC [8]. miR-552 was shown to have a tumor-promoting role in CRC development by targeting Dachshund family transcription factor 1, increasing the rates of CRC cell proliferation and migration [9]. miR-10b expression was positively correlated with advanced Tumor Node Metastasis (TNM) stages, colorectal liver metastasis, lymph node metastasis, venous infiltration, poorer differentiation, and served as an independent prognostic factor of poor overall survival (OS) [10].…”
