MicroRNA-148b enhances the radiosensitivity of B-cell lymphoma cells by targeting Bcl-w to promote apoptosis

Abstract: Lymphoma is a malignant disease of the hematopoietic system that typically affects B cells. The up-regulation of miR-148b is associated with radiosensitization in B-cell lymphoma (BCL). This study aimed to explore the role of miR-148b in regulating the radiosensitivity of BCL cells and to investigate the underlying mechanism. miR-148b directly targeted Bcl-w, decreased the cell viability and colony formation, while promoted apoptosis, in irradiated BCL cells. These changes were accompanied by decreased mitocho… Show more

“…There is growing interest in the molecular pathways of malignant transformation and progression of prostate cancer. Alterations in various oncogenes and tumor-suppressor genes can eventually lead to an imbalance between proliferation and programmed cell death, leading to net tumor growth and tumor progression ( 110 ). For instance, Bubendorf et al.…”

“…Furthermore, apoptosis-related genetic mutations or abnormal expression of apoptosis-related proteins may inhibit apoptosis and trigger tumorigenesis. Tumor treatment is vital in the induction of the expression of apoptosis-related genes to expedite tumor cell apoptosis [ 40 ]. In addition, a close connection may exist between apoptosis and autophagy.…”
